Adding to this, I'm not trying to argue the point on how homosexuality, or marriage, and adoption between such couples is wrong or right.  I was brought up to believe in certain principles, both in life and in the martial arts.  In life, I'm Irish and I'm Catholic, so you should flat out know where I stand with most issues.  In the martial arts, most forms of sexual contact that are not for the purpose of procreation are seen as a waste.  Even procreation, in some sects, like the Shaolin Monks, is seen as wasting your energy.  And it does, actually.  Regardless of what point I make about my own life, or my own martial art, the way I've been raised is obviously a variation from that of someone else in the world.  Which is why my principles I live by, and the way in which I practice my martial arts, are going to be better for me than for someone else.  Do I think my ways are so great?  No; it's just that everyone else's mentality about things are that messed up to me that my ways of thought are that much more normal to me.  I've met maybe 5 people in the entire world who have slightly better values and principles they live by, both in life and the martial arts.  That does not preclude me as being irrational or a pig of some sort.  Quite the opposite; if someone has a prejudiced/racist mind, they are really using rationality to make it so.  Just because my ways and your ways don't align, that does not mean that I have no respect for you or anyone else as an individual.  Thus, if I were to say that my martial art is the best in the world, then it is, but not for everyone.  If I were to say that homosexuality is wrong based on A and B, then it is, but that does not mean that it is universally true.  For some folks out there that I've met, heterosexuality is wrong (as messed up as it sounds to me) to them, and I'm just fighting against my nature.  Well, if I'm fighting against my nature, then that simply proves my point about the existence of a choice.  A choice to do what you feel is wrong or right.  Now, a choice, based on the philosophy of pain, is something I can prove.  Granted, I'm not proving free will, as that doesn't exist.  What I'm trying to prove here is cause-and-effect based primarily on mental factors as opposed to physical ones.  In conclusion, it is unfair for someone to say that choice does not exist, just as much as it isunfair for me to say that genetic variation does not exist.  Overall, genetic variation does exist in the world.  But in the world of the martial arts, most of us know that there are some things that science can't even come close to touching upon, like chi.  What I am ultimately saying in the sense of proving a point is, although genetic variation may occur in an individual, it is ultimately their own choice on how they live their lives, and what they do with themselves when it comes to learning the martial arts.
